Governance

This page is about our Governing Body. You can find out more about what school governors do here.

Our chair of governors Dr Katharine Vincent writes:

“As members of the Governing Body, we are extremely proud of the outstanding work of Sheringham Nursery School and Children’s Centre.

As you may know, children learn more in the first five years than at any other time in their lives. This is therefore a crucial stage in development which can make a significant difference to children’s future learning and growth. At Sheringham, close partnerships with parents and the local community help ensure that the school and children’s centre are able to make a positive difference to the lives of many families living in Manor Park.

We would like to invite you to explore this website to learn more about the work of the Governing Body and how we support the school, its headteacher and staff. We would also like to encourage you to read about the work of our Research School, which is helping to further improve early years practice by supporting the dissemination of evidence-based practice.”

The Headteacher, Lindsey Foster, is a member of the governing body because of the position she holds in the school. When she is unable to attend, Melissa Prendergast (Deputy Headteacher) deputises for her.

We have agreed a Code of Conduct – you can download a copy using the link below.

All the governors of Sheringham Nursery School and Children’s Centre listed below have signed the Declaration of Interests form.

This is a declaration of any personal or business interest they or any relative or person closely connected with them, have with businesses or other organisations that may have dealings with the school. This could for example include owning or having a relative work for a business that had dealings with school; having a relative working in or for school or being a governor of another school.

If any interest a governor has could be seen to cause a conflict of interest they would be asked to withdraw from any decision making concerned. This is to ensure that our governors can always be seen to be putting the interest of the school first. None of our governors has any interest to declare. We always check at the beginning of every meeting if anyone’s circumstances have changed, so the register is always kept up to date.
